Project Proposal Proper 12 Irish Whiskey
Proper 12 Irish Whiskey
The company that I will be doing a product shot for is the
recently new to the market company known as Proper Twelve. The company is owned
by and run by the one and only the Notorious Conor Mcgregor. He began the company
not long after his fight against Eddie Alvarez when he won the two UFC gold
belts. The reason as to why I chose this company to represent is firstly because
I am a major fan of Conor Mcgregor himself, and the whiskey itself in my opinion
is the greatest there is out on the market at the moment. The company is only
quite knowing but has succeeded in its sales because of the popularity behind Conor
Mcgregor. I feel that with the skill that I possess I can bring the company to
a whole different level in promoting the whiskey through photography beating
the competitors of the Irish Whiskey market by a mile. The photo would hopefully
give the viewers a true insight as to what Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey is all
about, and how the company is for Ireland and Ireland is first. Proper Twelve needs
a push now to get everyone talking about this delicious Whiskey.
The product that I will be taking a product shot is of course
as I stated in the company name is Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey. This product is
what true Irish Whiskey is all about, that delightful burn at the back of the
throat when a drink is taken. The product has been out for about 4 years now,
quite young on the Irish whiskey market if you ask me since companies like Jamenson
have been on the market since the dawn of time of the whiskey business. The product
itself is in a dark green coloured bottle, with the big writing of Proper
Twelve on the sticker of the bottle. The logo for the product and the company
is a tiger with a crown, since Conor Mcgreor is a lover of tigers, he decided
that it would be a good idea to put it on the bottle. Also, some history behind
the name Proper Twelve is that the Twelve part of the name is where Mr.
McGregor grew up in also known as Dublin Twelve and the Proper part is because this
whiskey is a true and tasty Irish whiskey.
The target audience for this product shot, is basically to anyone
who is a lover of alcohol or whiskey in general. I wanted to express in the
product shot that this whiskey is completely different to the rest on the
market. Myself personally was never a fan of whiskey, but this one when I tried
it tasted different, normally when you drink whiskey it hurts I think but when I
had a taste of this one it was a completely different feeling to what I was
used to. I was very smooth and went down like it was nothing, I would hope that
I could reach around to everyone worldwide to express to them that this is honestly
the best whiskey on the market and that is a fact. I also noticed when Proper
Twelve got released in Russia it was a major hit, everyone loved it, so I would
also like to dedicate this product shot to the Russian fans of Proper Twelve
Irish Whiskey. Also, the whiskey has not been released everywhere worldwide yet
so, I would love to show what the rest of the countries are in for when it
eventually reaches their homeland.
If this product shot where to get released and the company would
accept me into working with them, I would love to see this product shot
globally. I really think that this product shot would make people want to buy
and try this whiskey, especially if they have not tried out the whiskey before
in their lives. The way proper twelve promotes their whiskey is on Instagram so
most likely I would see it on their main page, they only really promote that
name of the company on sponsors etc. and if it was an advert on television lets
ay it would most likely have Conor Mcgregor in it. But there may be cases in
Ireland where the whiskey gets promoted a lot more or even around the world
such as, in pubs and shops where it is sold. I would nice to see this shot in
places like this. I also have seen in an Irish newspaper that Proper Twelve was
promoted on the front cover and it was a different product shot so maybe if they
where to use it, it would go on some newspaper article, explaining everything
about the company and how delicious the whiskey actually tastes.
Since we are in these horrible times I is a DIY setup that
will have to be used but for this, I will talk about what I will use at home
and what I would have used if I was in the studio. For at home, with the limited
resources I have I would have lights either side of the bottle, they are your
generic desk lamps, but the main light has quite a strong bulb which would give
the shadows a darker tint on the backdrop. I would also use a coloured light
pointing diagonal towards the bottle and the colour used would be a dark green somewhat
like the shade of the bottle, this making the bottle have a glow effect.
If I were in the studio, it would not be to different, I would
have the main light and the filler light on the product with a black base and
white background. But in this case the secondary light or filler light to the
side would have green foil in the case of the light to give that one sided
green effect to the bottle and also to the whiskey in the glass and then of
course the camera in both will have a flash on to light up the whole of the
scene.
There really are not many props that will be needed for this
photo shoot, of course the main ones will be the whiskey bottle itself and the glass,
but not all that extra. The whiskey that would be poured into the glass would
have ice in it to create a refreshing feel to the drink. The backdrop in this
case will be a white glossy glass part to a table top, I am using this to
create a reflection of the bottle on the glass and also so you can see the bottle
ever so slightly in the background. Then for the base of the shot I would use a
glossy chopping board because I wanted to have the contrast in colour for the
shot. If you count lights as props, then I will need two lamps and one colour
changing lights to create the illusion that I am looking for. The most
expensive prop that is in the scene is the Whiskey alone coming in at a price
of thirty euro when bought but everything else is items that have been lying around
in my household.
